The default behavior is to send such a donation receipt automatically if the donation is greater than or equal to EUR 50.01 and your contact address is available (eg via membership or supporter status, http://aktiv.ffii.org/ or address data is transmitted as bank transfer comment). If FFII still owes you a donation receipt for 2003, please let us know. From 2004 on, it will typically be sent out within six weeks after the donation unless you are paying membership more than once a year (in that case you get your receipt(s) at the end of the year if the total exceeds EUR 50.01 and your contact data is available).
If you want to (permanently) switch the default (legally, the cashier has to send out a receipt for any amount higher than postage if requested), please let me know. In future (but not yet) this option will also probably be integrated into http://aktiv.ffii.org/). Also if you want to supplement an address for a past donation, please just drop a mail, contact address see below. Also feel free to send any suggestions/wishes etc
In Germany, for donations up to EUR 100.00, there is a vereinfachter Spendennachweis (simplified receipt procedure) meaning that you can send in an account statement instead of a formal receipt.Because we do not send out those orange-yellowish preprint paper-based transfer forms where everything is prepared well, for a donation less than or equal to EUR 50.00 it might be smart to squeeze some extra info into the (electronic) transfer form, such as "SPENDE GMNNTZ KS VOLKSBLD" (abbreviating "gemeinnützige Körperschaft, Vereinszweck Volksbildung") or "MITGLBEITR GMNNTZ KS VOLKSBLD" that then also will occur on your account statement. Whilst we are at it, adding a " UID xxx " if your user id is xxx in http://aktiv.ffii.org/ greatly simplifies parsing of the stuff ;-). If you do this with a German donation between EUR 50.01 and EUR 100.00 we also (gladly) assume that you do not need a paper receipt (although on explicit demand, it will be issued, of course). To German tax authorities, please send in the account statement (Kontoauszug, or its copy), not the deposit slip (Einzahlungsbeleg).
To relax, it seems to be common practice to tolerate quite a lot in account statement copies up to EUR 100.00. But if you get any trouble, just drop a mail and your status will be changed (postage to anywhere in Europe costs us exactly EUR 0.55). It is also perfectly ok to make a receipt much later than the donation.
As suggested by a donor, here you find a PDF of the tax exemption confirmations (Freistellungsbescheid) issued by the tax office in 2004 (most recent version) and in 2000 (preceding version).
Please do not hesitate to contact in case of any issues or wishes.
